The Hanchec
They may be pacifists, but they are extreme isolationists and culturally use bigotry as a coping mechanism to perpetuate their isolationism and way of life. They also have a way to acquire a huge amount of deritium, but they would be fiercely against mining it as well.
The Hanchac are an ancient breed of cellulose-like earth beings, the exterior of which can take any plant-like shape including massive woody plants. They must be in direct contact with the earth at all times and cannot leave their planet. The origin of this strange species is unclear, but geologists suspect a direct connection with the broad deritium layer just below the planet's surface. The Hanchac confront foreign beings with complete ignorance and mostly also with derision and ridicule, by trying to recreate the counterpart from their body substance and performing wild, atypical, grimace-like movements. Movement is a means of contempt for the Hanchac, also mutually this is practiced against outcasts, who have to cover long distances under the silent laughter and rustling of leaves of the rest of the Hanchac and are only allowed to transplant themselves firmly into the ground again in a remote, lonely place. They are very reluctant to dismantle their life-giving deritium.

So you could exploit them and eventually incorporate them into your empire. Should you do so?
Be honest. If humans found such a people, wouldn't it be better to just leave them alone? Are they ignorant or right? How could we ever co-exist with them? Should we co-exist with them?
BotE is not just a computer game.
