That's the message that pops up if I try to run (by double-clicking on it) bote.exe under Windows XP (both under VirtualBox, and on a real computer).
In both cases, double-clicking the JAR file works fine.
bote.exe seems to have the PE-file flag for a 32-bit executable. Does it contain, and try to execute, a 64-bit executable?
bote.exe is not a valid WIN32 application

Re: bote.exe is not a valid WIN32 application
Nope, it should be a regular 32 bit executable. However I have no XP installation at hand at the moment so I have no idea why it doesn't works under XP. Under 7 and 10 it works fine. The jar can be of course run, but then the user needs to have jre installed on their system.
Re: bote.exe is not a valid WIN32 application
Good news, there is an extra Windows XP package in itch.io for those who have issues running the game.
Re: bote.exe is not a valid WIN32 application
What was changed to make bote.exe run under Windows XP?
Re: bote.exe is not a valid WIN32 application
I dug up an older version of packr (the wrapper used to run the game). It's ok on XP, in theory it works for newer Windows also, however I can't guarantee that.
